How to run an analysis with the equal pacE web tool?

Before starting the equal pacE web tool via https://equal-pace.personalmarkt.de, please read the following instructions:

1. Please ensure that you have access to the person- and job-related data of the employees in your company. This does not apply if you wish to perform an analysis with test data (see below).

2. Any analysis is performed on the basis of annual data. Because the first step is to specify the reference period for which you wish to conduct an analysis, please ensure to have the relevant data at hand, e.g. after starting the equal pacE web tool you can indicate 01.01.2010 for the period 01.01.2010-31.12.2010, or 01.08.2010 for the period 01.08.2010-31.07.2011, or any other period in the past.

3. We recommend to use Microsoft Excel for preparing your data (with regional settings are set to a European region). The data have to be stored in a (*.csv)-File. Therefore, please use the “Save As”-Option and change the file type.

4. In any case, please read the help-file to find out which data you need for an analysis and how to proceed.

5. Please also see the faq-file (Frequently Asked Questions) for detailed explanations.

6. In the file "TRY_IT.csv” you find a test data set (based on fictional data). It shows how to arrange your data. You can also use this data set for testing the upload process and to become familiar with the procedure. The file “DO_IT.csv” provides a template for preparing your data.

7. Technical requirements (recommendations): Please consider a sufficient number of

  • observations in an analysis (at least 50 employees)
  • females and males in the analysis (at least 20 males and 20 females)

Please note that analysing data sets with more than 10,000 observations may take long computing times or lead to no result at all!

8. Data security: The uploaded data are only stored for the purpose of generating an outcome report (PDF-format). The exchange of data occurs via https-Standard. If you have any further questions, please contact:

What about the results of an analysis with the equal pacE web tool?

As the result of an analysis with the equal pacE web tool, an outcome report as PDF file is generated. Please find below some examples of the equal pacE outcome report based on fictional test data. The report shows comprehensive gender-related data about your company's earnings distribution and the composition of the workforce. In particular, the extent of the unadjusted and the adjusted gender pay gap is displayed, and you will gain important insights into the main drivers of the gender pay gap:

  • Outcome report 1 based on test data (PDF file):
Observations: 1,124; share of females: 42.3 %; gender pay gap: -21.3 % (adjusted gender pay gap: -4.0 %)
  • Outcome report 2 based on test data (PDF file):
Observations: 700; share of females: 38.9 %; gender pay gap: -17.3 % (adjusted gender pay gap: -4.2 %)
  • Outcome report 3 based on test data (PDF file):
Observations: 400; share of females: 48.5 %; gender pay gap: -29.1 % (adjusted gender pay gap: -5.4 %)
